National Merit Scholarship Finalist

The National Merit® Scholarship Program is a distinguished academic scholarship competition that began in 1955. High school students enter the National Merit Program by taking the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test.  Of the 1.5 million entrants, some 50,000 receive Letters of Commendation, and 16,000 proceed to the semifinalist listing.  New Castle senior Brady Haering is not only of the 16,000 semifinalists but is currently recognized as one of the 8,000 finalists.

In recognition of this accomplishment as a finalist for the National Merit Scholarship and for demonstrating high potential for future academic accomplishments, the University of Oklahoma has awarded Brady a $120,000 financial package covering tuition, technology, textbooks, room and board, and stipend.

Congratulations, Brady! We applaud your achievements and wish you continued success in the future!
