Harry W. Lockley Kindergarten
A Message from Mrs. DeBlasio Print

Dear Students and Parents,

It is with great excitement that I am writing this letter to you.  We have now completed our first nine week period, and I have seen so many good things happening here at Harry W. Lockley Kindergarten Center.  There is such a noticeable difference in both the attitude and behavior of our students.  Now that they are well seasoned in the routine of Kindergarten, I now see "leaders" walking the hallways of Lockley Kindergarten.

Learning is taking place in our classrooms.  I have been most fortunate to be a part of the many activities taking place.  I have witnessed Johnny Appleseed Day, carving pumpkins, making applesauce, and a Halloween parade.  Also just recently, the children did a wonderful job honoring our veterans with their beautiful voices.

Combined with these many activities, the children are busy learning letters, numbers and how to get along with each other.  Learning abounds in all our classrooms.  It is amazing how much they have learned in this short time.  Reading is apparent everywhere I look.  I can hear the children breaking down words and putting sounds together to make words.  They are learning to READ!  It can't get better than this.

I thank you, the parents, for all your help and support, not only with your child's homework, but in the participation you have shown in our projects so far this school year.  Your support with P.T.A. is so important to our success here at Lockley.

Additonally, we are working on promoting good behavior with our "Banking on Good Behavior" project.  Awards are given out to the children, and oh how proud they are to walk down the hall to add their "apple" or "pumpkin" to our hallway display.  This is what a "leader" is all about.  Continue to praise your child for good behavior.

We are now heading into such a special time of year.  Let us all be thankful for the bounty we share, the children.  I give thanks to these children, to you their parents, and to my dedicated staff here at Lockley Kindergarten Center.

Many blessings to you as the holiday season approaches.  Enjoy the time with your children and families.  We all have a lot to look forward to in the New Year.

Sincerely,

Mrs. DeBlasio
